Made to Thrive Academy

What We Do

As foster parents, we realized that many children and youth in care are behind their appropriate age group in school. This can be for a number of reasons, including language barriers and having to move schools every time they move to a different home. Made to Thrive Academy was designed to help our students to catch up to their appropriate grade level. For many students, this looks like one-on-one tutoring alongside of their current school. For other students, this involves enrolling in our Made to Thrive Academy one-on-one Homeschool Program.

How We Do It

Step 1: Meeting with the student and their team. The student’s team can include parents, foster parents, case managers, teachers, administrators, court representatives, and other advocates. During this meeting, we get a better understanding of what the student’s needs are and develop an action plan (tutoring or virtual homeschool).

Step 2: Evaluating the student. This is completed one-on-one with a certified teacher to establish a baseline for where the student’s specific gaps in learning are so that we can appropriately address them.

Step 3: Developing a schedule and completing the action plan. The time it takes to complete our program is variable, based on each student’s specific needs.

Our homeschool program students end our program with a Homeschool Diploma! This diploma is accepted at colleges and trade schools.
